There are two games which are included with your Kindle: Mine Sweeper and GoMoku.

To open the Mine Sweeper game on your Kindle, press:  Alt+Shift+M The Shift button, if you didn't already know, is represented by the Up Arrow next to the Alt button on the Kindle 3.

How Mine Sweeper works:

• You are presented with an empty grid. The object of the game is to reveal all the squares in the grid that don't contain mines. As soon as you choose or land on a mine, the game is up!
  

• To start a new game, you need to move around the grid using the 5-way controller and then click on one of the squares in the grid using the middle of the 5-way controller. Sometimes you might be unlucky and pick a mine straight away which means the game is up - then you'd need to press the R button to reset the grid.

• When you uncover the first square (if you're not unlucky and hit a mine!) the square and possibly adjacent squares will reveal numbers. Numbers in squares represent the amount of neighboring mines adjacent (up/down, left/right and diagonally) to that square which could be 0 - 8. Use these numbers to determine where you think a mine might be positioned. If you think there are no mines adjacent, you can uncover a square. 

• You need to mark where you think all 10 mines are by pressing the M button to mark (or unmark if you make a mistake) a square as a mine. You will be told how many mines you have left to find at the bottom of the screen.

Sounds complicated but you soon get the hang of it when you start playing.


To get to the GoMoku game, you need to access Mine Sweeper and then press the G button.

GoMoku is otherwise known as Five in a Row or Noughts and Crosses.

You use the 5-way controller to play, just as in Mine Sweeper.

The object of this game is very simple - you need to create 5 crosses in a row either up/down, left/right or diagonally on the grid. Start anywhere you like but I'm warning you that the Kindle is annoyingly hard to beat!

At any time, pressing the Home button will return you to your Kindle Home screen.
